What a claim can prove
A claim such as total paid to traders is a number without a denominator. It does not say how many traders asked, how many were approved, how long approval took or how many accounts closed first. A testimonial is a selected case. Neither shows the typical outcome. Treat both as weak evidence.
Proof-of-payout cards
Topstep's payout page describes Proof of Payout cards: a downloadable image that generates automatically in the My Payouts tab once a payout completes, available for payouts back to 2026-01-01. It also describes stacked cards combining payouts from one day, generated for a trader's top six highest-earning days. The cards are created by the dashboard from real payouts, but the trader chooses what to share. A set of shared cards is a selection.
What the policy tells you
The written payout policy is stronger evidence than any image. Topstep's states a minimum payout of 125 dollars, a 90/10 split, per-request caps, methods and fees, and notes that internal approval can take one to three business days. FundedNext states that rewards are processed within 24 hours of approval and that the trader covers gateway charges. Apex states requirements and caps in tables. Check that the policy is specific about amounts, timing and conditions.
Processing time versus approval time
Topstep says processing times are estimates and exclude weekends and holidays, and that internal approval can take one to three business days before processing starts. A method listed as instant after approval still waits for approval. Ask what the clock starts from, and record both dates in your own log.
Run a small test
Where the minimum allows, request a small payout early and record the request time, approval time, receipt time, fee and amount received. Topstep gives an example in which a 500 dollar ACH request returns 420 dollars after the split and a 30 dollar fee. A small test shows the process and the real fees. It does not prove later, larger requests will behave the same, since caps and reviews change.
What reviews of payouts look at
Topstep lists an FAQ on what is reviewed before approval. Firms generally review rule compliance, identity and account activity. Read the list and check that your trading would pass it, for example copy trading or prohibited strategies. A denial usually cites a rule, so knowing the rules is the best protection.
Record everything
Keep the payout policy with its date, your request and approval messages, the amount received and the bank or wallet record. If a dispute arises, the record shows what was promised and what happened.
Red flags
Vague timing, no stated fees, payout conditions that change after you qualify, support that will not answer in writing and testimonials that avoid amounts. See how to vet a firm and qualifying days for related checks.
A worked timeline
A trader requests a 500 dollar payout on a Tuesday at 10:00. Approval arrives Thursday at 15:00, two business days later. The method is ACH, which the page lists at one to three business days, so money arrives the following Monday. From request to cash is six days. Written down, this shows that a payout that sounds like one to three days can take a week from the trader's point of view. Plan cash needs accordingly.
Verifying through your bank
Check the sender name and reference on the incoming transfer and compare the amount with the request, the split and the fee. A mismatch is easier to raise with the firm while the record is fresh.
When the policy and the practice differ
If a payout takes longer or pays less than the policy says, raise it with support in writing, quoting the policy and its date. Keep the reply. A pattern of differences across several requests is information about the firm.
Share what you learn
If you test a payout, consider noting the dates and amounts in a private log and comparing them with the policy. Patterns across requests are more informative than any single one.

Frequently asked questions
Are payout screenshots reliable proof of a firm?
They show that some payouts happened. They do not show how many requests were denied or delayed, so treat them as weak evidence and rely on the written policy.
What is a Topstep Proof of Payout card?
A downloadable image that generates automatically in the My Payouts tab once a payout completes, available for payouts from 2026-01-01. The trader chooses whether to share it.
How long does a payout take?
It depends. Topstep says internal approval can take one to three business days before processing, and methods range from same-day to 5 to 10 business days. FundedNext says rewards are processed within 24 hours of approval.
What fees reduce a payout?
Topstep lists a 30 dollar fee on ACH and wire, and FundedNext says the trader covers gateway charges. Banks and services may add their own fees.
Should I test a payout early?
Where the minimum allows, a small early request shows the process, timing and fees. It does not show that later requests will behave the same.
