Prop Firm Payout Policies Compared Explained

Prop Firm Payout Policies Compared looks past the reward split to what decides how much you can withdraw and when. It uses payout rules read on official pages on 2026-10-28, works small cash examples and marks every firm whose payout terms were not verified.

QUANTPROP EDITORIAL  /  UPDATED 2026-10-28  /  EDUCATIONAL

Why the split is the weakest number

A reward share tells you what fraction of an approved payout you keep. It does not tell you how often you can ask, how much you can ask for, what you must do first or what the payout does to your loss floor. Two firms with the same share can differ by a factor of three in what you can withdraw over a year, so compare eligibility, caps and resets.

Caps by size and payout number

Topstep limits each Express request to 50% of balance up to a cap that depends on size and path. On a 50K account the cap is 2,000 dollars on the standard path and 3,000 on the consistency path. Apex caps each payout by number and size. On a 50K account the caps run from 1,500 for the first payout to 3,000 for the sixth, and after six payouts the account closes. The5ers lists a cap of 3,000 dollars on 50K accounts and 4,000 on 100K accounts, with a minimum profit of 300 and 500 dollars. The caps matter more than the share when profits are large relative to the cap.

Timing and cycles

FundedNext ties timing to the path chosen at checkout. The standard option runs a 21-day first cycle, then 14-day cycles. The 3 profitable days option opens after three profitable days with at least 1% profit each. The on-demand option needs the account up 2% with the best day at most 40% of profit. The5ers states a withdrawal interval of 14 days. Topstep opens a standard request after five winning days. Apex allows up to weekly requests after five qualifying days. The cycle length converts directly to how long your capital waits. A 21-day cycle delays the first cash by three weeks even on a strong start.

What a payout does to your buffer

At Topstep, the Maximum Loss Limit is set to zero after the first payout and the remaining balance becomes your loss floor. The firm's example: a balance of 10,000 with a 5,000 payout leaves 5,000, and the account closes if the balance reaches zero. Apex requires profit above a safety net, which equals the drawdown limit plus 100 dollars. A payout therefore shrinks your cushion even when the account stays open. The guide on the payout buffer covers this.

A cash example at Topstep

On a 50K Express account with a 10,000 balance on the standard path, the request is limited to the lower of 50% of the balance, 5,000, and the 2,000 dollar cap. The cap binds, so the request is 2,000 dollars. At a 90/10 split you receive 1,800 dollars before payout fees. An ACH payout carries a 30 dollar fee, which leaves 1,770. The remaining account balance is 8,000, and the loss floor is set to zero.

Payout methods and fees

Topstep lists same-day prop-to-brokerage payouts for US traders, Aeropay for US banks, Wise for China, Canada and the United Kingdom, and ACH and wire with a 30 dollar fee. FundedNext lists stablecoins, bank transfer, direct deposit to a brokerage and card payout, with settlement in 24 hours of approval. The5ers names crypto or RISE. Check that your country and method are supported before paying, as the guide on country eligibility explains.

What was not verified

The pages read for Alpha Capital and The Trading Pit did not state a reward share or timing, and the pack's FTMO figures were not re-read for this update. Treat those cells as unknown. Ask each firm for written payout terms for your exact plan, keep the date and verify with a small first request when allowed.

Reading denial conditions

Each payout page also lists reasons a request can be reviewed or denied, such as rule violations, identity checks or country limits. Topstep lists FAQs on what is reviewed before approval and on countries that cannot receive payouts. Read them before the first request, because a denial after months of trading is the costliest surprise in the process.

Frequently asked questions

Which prop firm has the best payout policy?

There is no single answer. Apex states 100% of approved payouts but limits accounts to six payouts, Topstep states 90% with per-request caps, and FundedNext ties its share to a checkout option. Compare reachable payouts under your own results.

How often can I withdraw from a prop firm?

It varies. The5ers states every 14 days, Apex up to weekly after five qualifying days, FundedNext by cycle or on demand, and Topstep after five winning days or three days on the consistency path.

Does a payout reduce my account buffer?

Yes at several firms. Topstep resets the Maximum Loss Limit to zero after the first payout, so the remaining balance is your floor. Apex requires profit above a safety net.

What is the minimum prop firm payout?

Topstep states 125 dollars and Apex 500 dollars. The5ers lists minimum profit of 300 dollars on 50K and 500 on 100K accounts before a payout.

Are payouts automatic once I qualify?

No. Payouts require eligibility and review, and each firm can deny a request that breaks its rules. Read the denial conditions in the firm's article before you rely on a payout.
